We are marking the 25th anniversary of National Barbecue Week by launching a bid to find Hampshire’s ultimate BBQ hero of 2021.
We’ve invited people from across Hampshire to nominate someone who is dedicated to the grill year after year and deserves to be recognised for their expertise in outdoor cooking.
A deluxe BBQ hamper worth £70 will be awarded to the winner. The hamper includes a variety of locally-sourced produce such as; Suthwyk Ales gift pack, Stokes BBQ sauces, Westlands beef half pound burgers, a hand-made apron and the coveted Hampshire BBQ Hero plaque.
To enter the competition you should nominate your Hampshire Barbecue Hero on the Westlands Farm Shop Instagram and Facebook page with a photo of your BBQ hero and the reason why they should be the ultimate winner.
Managing director Kayleigh Collet said: “We absolutely love barbecuing here at Westlands and so much of our produce is perfect for a summer BBQ. As National BBQ Week is one of our favourite national weeks of the year we want to encourage people to celebrate with us in a lighthearted and fun way.
“It will be interesting to see if we just get dads nominated – it would be great to see some women who love their outdoor cooking put forward for the award too.
“We have a huge selection of meat from our butchers such as burgers, sausages, chicken and even tomahawk steaks that are perfect for BBQs. We sell all the extras too, ranging from freshly baked buns in-store and home-grown vegetables.
“Barbecuing is certainly for everyone and we’re looking forward to seeing the diverse range of entries that we receive. Being community orientated is at the heart of the farm shop and we love to see people getting involved in initiatives such as our BBQ Hero competition.”
